This beautiful brand new flute has 4 parts and is made of Cocus wood. Cocus wood is a much more durable wood than rosewood. Key allows the most distal note to be played. The key will raise the three highest notes (lower holes) from a natural note to the sharp (one half-step). This is a popular flute for either folk or classical music, and has a very good tone which is mellower than that of the metal flutes.
The Irish flute is a simple system, transverse flute which plays a diatonic (Major) scale as the tone holes are successively uncovered. Due to its wooden construction, characteristic embouchure and direct (keyless) fingering, the simple system flute has a distinctly different timbre from the Western concert flute. Today, transverse "simple system Irish" flutes are being made for the playing of a variety of traditional musical styles.
